Stay Tuned
Bellissima follows the unfolding relationship of an ambitious mother and her beautiful and talented daughter through the complications and struggles they each must understand, before realizing their dreams. The mother wants only the best for her daughter, and of ensuring the daughter can have what the mother never found, perhaps a success and recognition like that of the popular Polish singer, Violetta Villas. The fifteen-year-old daughter, a ballet student, still lives in the youthful dream world of dancing, of becoming a famous ballerina. Marysia can't understand her mother's desire for her to achieve a "better future", and to quit dancing, and love, and what it takes to fulfill their dreams. Marysia fights her mother's control over her life and her future. Their relationship struggles through many, unexpected events and complications before Marysia finally sees what has happened and can accept the shocking outcome, and the reality of her mother's plans. Marysia's "coming of age" is a sensitive and fascinating study of a Polish mother and daughter's dedication and love, and their different ways in pursuit of happiness and self-fulfillment.
