Fashioned in Poland, every glass ornament is mouth-blown, then lined with liquid produce of sterling silver rendering the finished piece with exceptional brilliance, and finally meticulously hand-painted. The Lighthouse Blown-Glass Ball Ornament Series are intricate renditions of American Scenery with the design concept to 'capture and celebrate moments in time' within these handmade treasures. This ball ornament characterizes the historic Fort Niagara Light located on the northeastern shore of the Niagara River in New York. In 1781 during the British occupation of Fort Niagara, nicknamed "The French Castle," the British installed a light on the roof of the castle where it actively remained until 1796 when the Americans terminate it. After the tower was dismantled around 1803, a new wooden tower with a beacon was constructed on the roof of the castle in 1823. The beacon was superseded by the current 61 ft. tall octagonal gray stone tower in 1872. Although it was deactivated in 1993, the lighthouse is still open to visitors today.
