Bohun is a character from the novel, "Ogniem i mieczem" ("With the fire and sword"), by Henryk Sienkiewicz. It is the first volume of the famous trilogy set in the reality of the Republic of Poland of the 17th century. Cossack colonel Iwan Bohun was a model for this character. During the Chmielnicki Uprising (1648-1654), on which the novel was based, Iwan Bohun became famous fighting, among others, the battle of Beresteczko where he was in command of the Cossack camp.
