The album Jewels of Architecture in Poland is like a tapered string of pearls having the largest beads as well as those more minute. From the early buildings situated on the current territory of Poland, the author has chosen those which, in his opinion, are the most beautiful. They were erected by the local inhabitants as well as by newcomers who considered themselves firstly as craftsmen and artists, and only secondarily as their Polish, Italian, or German nationality.

The author has tried to place in the album photographs of objects representing all different periods. Thus there are stony, raw, Romanesque temples and Gothic basilicas with their ingenious vaulting. There are white, limestone Gothic castles of Jura, founded by Kazimierz Wielki; we can also find there the bricks strongholds of the Teutonic Order. There are town halls, houses and palaces which in the Renaissance period were crowned with high Polish parapets with their ingenious decoration. Finally we can see baroque churches with dynamic, wavy insides and rich facades. There are royal Wilanów and Wawel.

The author of the album chose the objects which were close to his heart, and hopes that they will also delight others. Here are well known buildings which get general attention as well as those less known which have attracted the photographer’s eye with their particular charm or due to the mastery of the workmanship, the play of light, the space, the color or the block composition.

Albumy Perły architektury w Polsce jak sznur pereł, zawiera te największe i te całkiem drobne. Autor spośród dawnych budowli, znajdujących się obecnie na terenie Polski, wybrał te, które uznał za najpiękniejsze. Wznoszone przez miejscowych twórców i przez przybyszy, w czasach, gdy czuli się oni bardziej rzemieślnikami lub artystami niż Polakami, Włochami czy Niemcami, i gdy ziemia, na której powstawał owe budowle, wielokrotnie zmieniała przynależność państwową.

Autor starał się, by w albumie znalazły się zdjęcia obiektów reprezentujących wszystkie epoki. Są tu więc kamienne, surowe, romańskie świątynie i gotyckie bazyliki o kunsztownych sklepieniach. Są białe wapienne, gotyckie zamki Jury, fundowane przez Kazimierza Wielkiego, i ceglane warownie Krzyżaków. Są ratusze, domy i pałace ukoronowane w czasach renesansu wysokimi polskimi attykami o wymyślnych grzebieniach. Wreszcie barokowe kościoły z dynamicznymi, falującymi wnętrzami bogatymi fasadami. Jest królewski Wilanów i Wawel.

Autor albumu wybrał te obiekty, które jemu są bliskie, z nadzieją, że zachwycą również innych. Są to zarówno zabytki cieszące się ogólnym zainteresowaniem, jak i te mniej znane, które przyciągnęły uwagę fotografika, bo mają w sobie jakiś szczególny urok lub zachwyciły go mistrzostwem wykonania detalu, grą świateł, przestrzeni, barwą, kompozycją brył.
